"Trout in the Classroom" is a hands-on environmental education program where students raise trout from eggs in a classroom aquarium and then release them into a local, approved stream in the spring. Throughout the year, students learn how to care for living creatures, monitor water quality, and observe the trout life cycle up close, which helps them understand topics like ecosystems, clean water, and conservation in a very concrete way. The program is designed to connect kids with their local watershed and to build a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the environment—so when they finally release “their” trout, they also feel more connected to the streams, rivers, and natural resources their community depends on.
